Abstract

Tracing the image of the vampire from: early myths through Eastern European lore, literature (such as: Stoker, LeFanu and Polidori), popular culture texts (Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the Lost Boys), and LARP and RPG games (Vampire the Masquerade and Warhammer Fantasy Battles); this article considers the way that evolutionary developments in vampire lore link with the developing needs of society.
