Abstract

This article explored the lore and history of shipwrecks on The Catlins Coast (the south-eastern corner of the South Island of New Zealand). There is also a discussion and analysis of the way that shipwreck lore is being used by the local Tourism Industry as an element within in an effort to build a local brand based on regional lore and history.
